Meditation is a popular word these days, but what is it and how can you incorporate into your very busy life? And what is it exactly? Meditation is not concentration, where one is focused on one object or idea. Meditation is also not a form of exercise or mental effort, that requires you to block out other thoughts or ideas. According to freemeditation.com, meditation leads to a stage of ‘thoughtless awareness’, which neutralizes the stress producing part of the brain without reducing awareness.

The practice of meditation works towards increasing your quality of life while also reducing stress to improve your mental health. By performing meditation once a day, you will be able to meditate to your most successful self.

Follow these four tips to help you meet your goal:

1. Take Deep Breathes Every Morning

Start each day fresh, don’t dwell on yesterday, instead make sure that you start each day anew. Don’t immediately checking your phone or laptop when you first wake up (like we all do), try to take five minutes just to breathe. Let go of everything that happened yesterday and make two new goals, one personal and one professional, that you want to accomplish today.

2. Show up to work to accomplish something

You can become more successful at work by showing up more relaxed. After your morning meditation, remember to focus on the goal you set for yourself professionally. You should be able to find passion in your work and be mindful and in the moment while you are working. Being present helps eliminate distracting thoughts and worries.

3. Take a moment to stop and breathe if you find yourself exhausted

Mindbodygreen.com suggest that successful folks are able to keep their passion active thought out the day by taking deep breaths to refocus. Rather than use caffeine to perk up, try to take a mental step back and regroup your thoughts. Exhaustion can play a physical and mental toll on your drive; therefore, you can overcome these moments with brief deep breathing sessions.

4. Remember that you always have a choice

It’s okay to worry however, it’s not okay to think all our these fears of risk and conflict are absolute truth. Mindbodygreen.com reminds us that when we face an issue, we always have a choice. You can choose to worry about anxieties or you can choose to look at obstacles as challenges.
